Hiking the Half Collared Kingfisher Trail

Level: Easy

Total distance: ±4 km

The Half Collared Kingfisher trail is located in the beautiful Wilderness, Western Cape. This stunning trail will lead you to the tranquil Touw River Waterfall.

You have two options in doing the trail.

You can either hike the full trail starting at the Ebb-and-Flow Rest Camp (alongside the rail/ road bridge). This is an absolute beautiful trail to enjoy nature and the waterfall at the end of the trail makes it worth the while.

OR

You can hire a canoe at Eden Adventures. Eden Adventures is located at the Fairy Knowe Hotel and after you’ve sorted out all the paper work, you take your canoe onto the Touw river. This will lead you through the lush forest. When the river becomes narrow, you can leave your canoe on the bank of the river on the right side and hike the last part of the Half Collared Kingfisher trail to the Touw river waterfall.

For both options you will need to pay a conservation fee (2019):

South African Citizens and Residents (with ID)R46 per adult & R23 per child
Foreign VisitorsR152 per adult & R76 per child

If you choose to hire a canoe, you’ll have to hire the canoe at an additional cost. See website for pricing here

Remember to take your bathing costume with to take a dip at the Waterfall and enjoy the scenery with a picnic.
