Thailand is in the centre of the Southeast Asian Indochinese Peninsula and is known as the ‘land of smiles’. Thailand’s pristine and turquoise waters are so welcoming and the culture and history makes this a magical place to visit. Thailand is also inexpensive when you compare it to other tropical islands.

Thailand’s seasons:
Thailand has three official seasons:
- You have your hot season from March to June;
- The monsoon season is from June to October; and
- The cool season from November to February.
Most people believe that the best time to visit Thailand is during the dry season from November to February. During this time, the temperatures are cooler which makes outdoor activities much better. However, flights are more expensive, as well as accommodation.
We traveled to Thailand during the monsoon season (June 2019). During this time, you will avoid the crowds and the flights and accommodation are much cheaper. It is important to know that monsoon season does not mean continuous rain, but rather short-lived rainstorms.
3 Different Islands:
Although there are many beautiful destinations to visit in Thailand, we island hopped between Phuket, Krabi and Koh Phi Phi.
1.Phuket

Phuket was probably my least favourite destination from our trip, however still stunning. I would highly recommend rather staying in Kata or Karon area and not Patong itself (unless you like the whole backpacker/ party scene vibe).

2.Krabi (Ao Nang)

Ao Nang was my most favourite island for shopping, as it was the cheapest and also had the most shops. There are also many activities to do in and around Ao Nang.

3.Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi is probably the island Thailand is most famous for. From all the destinations we’ve visited, this island was the island with the most stunning sunrise and sunsets and also my all-time favourite island. The water here is also crystal clear with beautiful turquoise water. This is a small island and I think a maximum of three days will be enough for exploring this island paradise.
How to get to Phi Phi Island:

The only way to get to the Phi Phi Islands is by boat, as there is no airport on the island. There are two main locations to get to Phi Phi Island – either from Phuket or from Krabi (both these two destinations have international airports).
The pier in Phi Phi Island is known as the Ao Tonsai Pier.

Phuket to Phi Phi Island:
In order to go to the Phi Phi Island’s from Phuket you need to go to Rassada Pier (see GPS-Coordinates). Here you have two options, depending on your budget. You can either take a ferry, which is the cheaper option. Or you can take a speedboat. The earliest ferry leaves at 09:00. Make sure to be at the pier well in advance.

Krabi (Ao Nang) to Phi Phi Island:
To get to Phi Phi Islands from Krabi, Ao Nang, you will need to go to the Noparathara pier. From here you can either travel via speedboat or a ferry.
